As you can see from our last post....winter has been scarce here in New Hampshire. The storm that was to hit us last Tuesday brought maybe two inches of snow which promptly melted. Okay by me! I guess I'm enjoying not having to shovel through two feet of snow just to get to the barn...so shoot me! The local ski areas can make snow if they need to, but the weather report for this week sounds pretty promising for them. Hopefully the storm won't hit here and will go south again, but that might be too much to hope for....like I said, so far snow has been pretty scarce. It would probably be too much to ask for.....just one more miss. I'll still fill all of the extra buckets in case of a power outage and Ken will bring in extra wood. It's a sure fire way to keep the snow away!!!!!

I hear we're supposed to get a snowstorm on Tuesday. Now, I know I shouldn't complain...we have been spared the last few storms! They have all hit well South of us! Thankfully. It's just that I've been enjoying the respite this year....and I'm seeing some bare ground!! Why just a couple of days ago, there was a little bit of melting going on and I could actually see a tiny bit of water running down the driveway!!! That's supposed to be a sign of Spring, isn't it??
I have a feeling that by Tuesday afternoon this will be a completely different scene!!

TUESDAY TIDBITS.......

Cappy couldn't wait until it was warm enough to get her sweater off!
Aster peeled down this afternoon, but I couldn't resist one last picture before we discarded her outfit!
"Thanks for making me look silly, Mom"

Little Moon lounging in the sun...

Sam, one of our two llamas....better known as PIGPEN!!!

Little Bonnie....in her trench coat. She's undercover...

Pike Hill Tansey

Well, you asked for some photos of the girls in their tight fitting sweaters....here they are!
Flopsy is NOT impressed with her drab brown sweater that shows every "bump"! How rude!
Most of them have shed their coats and are now basking in the sun, but I promised some photos!

Licorice just LOVES her purple outfit!

Colby...."before"

Colby.... "after"

The local Thrift Shop is a great place for sweaters for the girls!

Murphy's Law..

Call the shearer and the weather WILL change! We have had a bit of a January thaw for a little over a week...it was glorious. I called Jeff about shearing and, presto chango, we are right back to a cold snap! Now, I take care of my shearer, not only do I bake him his favorite peach pie, but we skip the cold barn and shear in the basement....by the woodstove! We start up the stove the night before and just let it simmer to get the chill off (we heat the main part of the house with another smaller stove and only start up the HUGE basement stove on really bad days or power outages) so much better than the cold, cold barn!
Anyway, the weather changed to the big chill so the girls have on the very latest in styles from the local thrift shop! Licorice is particularly stunning in a purple sweater against black wool...nice! We also put down a DEEP bedding of straw and haul out buckets of warm water and molasses to complete the spoiling of the sheep. The only one who didn't get sheared was little Moon who is 1 month old tomorrow!!! I hope to get some halfway decent pictures later today...
Sheep in Sweaters....what will they think of next? I know....purchasing sheep coats next year!!! What a concept???!

That's it for now.....
